課程概述 |
This course continues the use of technology as an aid in training to achieve communication goals. However, the primary emphasis will still be on developing critical thoughts and observations on topics of interest. In other words: What do you intend to express as a speaker? Only then can technology be of assistance to polish the delivery of original thought. Assessment of whether or not your message came across—or whether a dialogue can ensue—will fall to the interpretation of what you said by your peers and/or the instructor. |

課程目標 |
Achieving communication goals in the context of this course refers to speakers being able to:
• Express intended meaning: logic, cohesion, coherence
• Use idiomatic/“standard” language: word choice, grammar, collocation, connotation, register
• Engage in fluent delivery: pacing, prosody, pronunciation, enunciation, intonation, confidence, voice
Primary ways to achieve the above goals:
• Research parallel texts to identify idiomatic/ “standard” language for a given topic or your intended meaning
• Use technology to aid in producing speech that exhibits “native” speech qualities; these technologies include (but are not limited to):
o Grammarly
o ChatGPT
o Speech-to-text apps (Natural Reader)
o Online video resources (YouTube)
